ADELAIDE midfielder Scott Thompson appears set to reach 300 AFL games after signing a one-year deal at West Lakes.
Thompson, a two-time best and fairest at the club, has enjoyed stellar form this year – averaging 27 possessions and six tackles a game.
He's ranked sixth in the League for contested possessions and clearances.
The 32-year-old, who has racked up 282 matches, will play on into a 16th AFL season in which he's likely to become the fifth Crow to reach 300 games, although he played 39 at Melbourne before crossing to Adelaide ahead of 2005.
He has played in three losing preliminary finals (2005, '06, '12) and said his focus was on the club's immediate success.
"There's a real sense of enthusiasm and determination among our playing group," Thompson said.
"It's really exciting for our club and our supporters to be back in the finals this season, and I'm committed to helping this team achieve success.
"I feel I still have a lot to contribute not just on game day, but also in mentoring our younger players coming through."
Head of football David Noble said Thompson was the embodiment of the elite standards the Crows had pushed on their playing group this year.
He's one of the club's hardest trainers and his off-field professionalism is likely to see him play at least 20 games this year, as he has in nine of his past 10 seasons.
"Scott epitomises the elite standards that we value as a club," Noble said.
"He works extremely hard on and off the football field, which is reflected in his consistency of performance over a long period of time, and is an excellent role model for our emerging midfielders."
