FOOTY fans can now follow their team's fortunes with a flick of the wrist with the launch of the official AFL Apple Watch app.

Thanks to the AFL's digital partner, Telstra, the Apple Watch app gives fans quick, hands-free access to match details, live updates and alerts for every match of the AFL season.

General Manager of AFL Media, Peter Campbell, said the watch app provides fans with a new and exciting way to get AFL updates anywhere and anytime.

"Wearable devices are gaining popularity and this innovation allows fans to really wear their heart on their sleeve.

"They can follow their club's matches live in the most convenient and seamless way you can imagine."

The watch app offers a comprehensive match centre with pre-game details including head-to-head form and live scores and stats during every match.

The app also offers a 'Glance' feature for a quick snapshot of live scores as they happen.

Ladder updates and final match stats follow at the completion of every game.

Another great feature for fans on the go are Notifications for match starts, team announcements and breaking news.

Fans who sign up for Notifications on the AFL Live phone app have the option to get the same alerts 'buzz' onto their watch.
