"You're always balancing team need with best player and we think we've combined both of them with some very talented players and players that can fulfill some positions that we need to strengthen. It just worked out the best player at pick five was that half-back position that Bluey (McKenna) had identified we needed." Scott Clayton, list manager
Pick 5 – Kade Kolodjashnij
"He's an unbelievably good intercept mark and rebound defender who just keeps running. We were excited with him from a year ago. He's got extraordinary athletic attributes underpinning his footy talent. He's got a huge leap, really quick and great endurance. That's the package you just die for. When he came in as a late inclusion to the AFL/AIS Academy group, his growth and development over the year was extraordinary, so his ability to adapt was also really appealing to us." Scott Clayton
20 – Jack Leslie
"Jack lives in Gippsland, quite a remote area, from a dairy farm and we think there's enormous improvement in him. He's 199cm and what happens in junior footy is the tallest guy normally plays in the ruck. We think he's a potential quality tall defender. They're very hard to find and when you think you might find one, you take them. He's super quick - well below three seconds for 20m - and he's aggressive and grunty. We think he has all the hallmarks for a tall defender." Scott Clayton
27 – Sean Lemmens
"He's really, really good in traffic. Got clean hands, got a great evasive step and beautiful timing to give the ball off – and defends really well. Sean's quick and kicks the ball really well. He can play on small forwards. We've been watching him for two years. He played some senior footy at the end of this year for Port Adelaide so we're happy with that." Scott Clayton
