CARLTON father-son recruit Jack Silvagni will wear the No.2 for the Blues next season, in what he says is a number that has "nice synergy" with his family's history at the club.

Silvagni became a third-generation Blue when he was drafted by Carlton last week, and on Tuesday the club revealed its batch of new jumper numbers for 2016.

The 17-year-old's father Stephen and grandfather Serge both made the No.1 jumper famous for the Blues, but the newest Silvagni at Carlton said he was pleased to take on the No.2 guernsey.

"The No.2 gives me more of an opportunity to create my own path. Obviously Serge and dad wore No.1, so I guess you could say one plus one equals two," said Silvagni, who wore No.1 for the Oakleigh Chargers in the TAC Cup this season. 

"I'm really happy there's a nice synergy between the number my grandfather and dad played in and my new number." 

Veteran Blue Andrew Walker wears the No.1 jumper at the club, having held it since being the No.2 draft choice at the 2003 NAB AFL Draft. 

The No.2 guernsey also carries great prestige at Carlton, having been worn by Blues legends Greg Williams and John Nicholls.

Meanwhile, the club's No.1 draft pick Jacob Weitering will wear No.23, and fellow draftees Harry McKay (No.10), Charlie Curnow (No.30) and David Cuningham (No.28) were also given their first AFL jumper numbers on Tuesday.

The club also revealed the numbers for the group of players they recruited during the trade and free agency period, with Lachie Plowman (No.20), Liam Sumner (No.19), Jed Lamb (No.13), Sam Kerridge (No.11), Andrew Phillips (No.34) and Daniel Gorringe (No.37) donning the navy blue.
