CALLAN WARD
Forget his immense contributions through the midfield for one moment, Callan Ward's leadership makes him a contender as the club's most important player. The Giants are attempting to keep a talented young list together, and that will continue to present challenges. As captain, Ward plays a crucial role setting the team's culture and creating an environment that will attract and retain talent. Over the past three seasons, he ranks No.1 at the club for disposals, contested possessions, clearances, tackles and inside 50s (equal). A hardened player in a young team, he can be a stabilising force alongside ruckman Shane Mumford. Recruit Ryan Griffen could create more freedom for the skipper in 2015.
Key 2014 stats: 20 games. Led the Giants in clearances (6.5 a game), tackles (5.7) and contested possessions (12.5).
JEREMY CAMERON
Cameron announced himself as a superstar in the making when he won the Giants' club champion award in 2013 and he is perhaps the most important young piece in the Giants' premiership puzzle. He battled injuries last year but remained a strong marking target and regular goalkicker. In his forward-line partnership with Jonathon Patton, Cameron is the more versatile option, able to push up the ground and provide a get-out option or beat his opponent running back towards goal. He has kicked 18 per cent of GWS' goals across the past three seasons.
Key 2014 stats: 14 games. Ranked No.1 at the club for goals (29) and marks inside 50 (33).
