ADELAIDE midfielder Rory Sloane will have scans on his cheekbone after copping a knock in Saturday night's win over Gold Coast. 

Sloane came from the field during the third quarter of the 41-point victory and was immediately subbed out for Matt Crouch. 

The incident was difficult to pick up, but Adelaide coach Phil Walsh said it would need to be looked assessed.

"He got a whack, we'll have to get that checked," Walsh said.

"I'm not quite sure (of the extent). We'll see whether that's a fracture or not."

Sloane was having a strong game and had racked up 17 disposals, six marks and a goal, despite coming into the contest under a cloud with a corked calf. 

The injury put a slight dampener on the Crows' win, which halted a two-game skid following losses to the Western Bulldogs and Port Adelaide. 

Walsh said although he never felt in total control of the match, it was a step in the right direction. 

He was rapt with the performance of five-goal small forward Eddie Betts, who looked a class above most players on the field. 

Whenever the ball came in his area, he pounced, and aside from his own goals, managed to set up two more for teammates.

"He's been in terrific form," Walsh said. 

"He brings other people into the game, plays a bit of a role in the midfield and hits the scoreboard for us. 

"I've scouted against Eddie Betts and know what a good player he is, but getting to know the guy, he's just a terrific fella. 

"He thinks team first, wants to make the club better. He's everything I thought he was and a bit more." 

Walsh said although the performance wasn't to the standard of the opening two rounds against North Melbourne and Collingwood, it was a big step in the right direction.
