MATT Suckling's critical set shot goal on the three-quarter time siren against Fremantle was typical Hawthorn.
But it was not typical Suckling.
The 27-year-old's composure in the big moment seems even more outstanding when you consider he was one of only three Hawks (including defenders Josh Gibson and Ben Stratton) to enter the preliminary final with a set shot accuracy of less than 50 per cent in 2015.
He'd had just five set shots for a return of 1.4 leading into the game.
That is well behind Hawk sharp shooters who seem to kick goals from set shots regardless of the situation.

In 2015, the 22 Hawks who played against the Dockers on Friday night had kicked set shots at 69 per cent accuracy.
Ben McEvoy has not missed from 10 shots.
Skipper Luke Hodge has kicked 10.1 from set shots in 2015 and Ryan Schoenmakers has chipped in with a handy 11.2 on his left foot.
Even the famous five forwards Jack Gunston (who missed the preliminary final with injury), Luke Breust, Jarryd Roughead, Cyril Rioli and Paul Puopolo have stood firm, kicking 119 goals from 184 set shots.
It's no wonder then the Hawks lead the competition for set shot accuracy (64.6 per cent), even though they kick fewer set shot goals than all but one other team in the competition.
By contrast, the Eagles sit ninth in the competition for set shot accuracy in 2015, with a percentage of 61.5.
The Hawks spread the load too, with Brian Lake the only player in the team not to have had a set shot at goal this season.
Remarkably, they have averaged 9.3 goalkickers a game this year - a figure well above their recent premiership seasons - but have not lost any accuracy in set shots.
The advantage this gives them was evident on Friday night when their score of 15.4 comprised 9.3 from set shots.
The Hawks kick straight when the pressure is on.
The only Grand Final under coach Alastair Clarkson in which they kicked at below 50 per cent accuracy, in 2012, they lost.
Suckling combined technique and mental strength to deliver at a crucial stage on Friday night.
Typical Hawthorn.
