ST KILDA has made an offer to Essendon for key defender Jake Carlisle but the club did not reveal if it involves pick No.5.
It is believed the Saints' offer was picks No.5 and 63 for Carlisle, as well as the Bombers' picks 23 and 25.
Carlisle assured Saints coach Alan Richardson on Friday that his "sole focus" was on playing with the club in 2016, despite recent interest from Hawthorn.
The Hawks have been in discussions with the Bombers this week nutting out a deal that would see Hawthorn send picks No.15 and No.18 to Essendon in exchange for Carlisle.
Saints list manager Ameet Bains said the club would not discuss the specifics of their offer, which was tabled on Friday, "out of respect to Essendon".
"I've spent much of the day with Jake Carlisle's manager and can absolutely confirm that Jake's sole focus remains playing for the Saints in 2016," Bains said in a statement on the club's website.
"Further, Jake has confirmed this directly to our senior coach Alan Richardson when they spoke earlier today."
"I can also confirm that the Essendon Football Club has an offer before them to trade Jake to the Saints."
Bains said Carlisle and his management supported the Saints' trade proposal, which the club believed was "fair and reasonable and would achieve a satisfactory outcome for all involved".
