GREATER Western Sydney coach Leon Cameron said his side's 86-point thumping of Port Adelaide in Canberra on Sunday was another positive sign of their growing maturity.
The Giants jumped Port with the opening three goals of the match and apart from a brief fightback from the visitors, controlled all facets of the game.
GWS smashed the Power in contested possessions (131-116), clearances (45-30) and inside 50s (75-41) and the result was its highest ever total of 22.19 (151) and biggest ever win.
Five talking points: GWS v Port Adelaide
Cameron said after the game that seeing his team not only win, but also win well in such dominant fashion was extremely pleasing.
"They've been on the end of a number of beltings these young fellas and it is good (to win well), because you just don't get a chance sometimes to win like that," Cameron said.
"Sometimes you can waltz into the end of the game and it's a 30- or 40-point win when percentage means a lot in this competition, and if you get a side down at any particular time and you can punish them, then you've got to take those hits.
"Our pressure was really, really good and we capitalised."
Exciting tall forward Rory Lobb kicked four goals for the winners in another encouraging display and took three contested marks inside forward 50.
The West Australian had a big impact in just his 15th senior game, and Cameron said that while Lobb's work as a marking forward was pleasing, his developing partnership with star ruckman Shane Mumford was also encouraging, especially after the youngster had a quiet game in last week's Sydney derby against the Swans.
"For a third-year player, he's getting better every week and he's going to learn from what happened last week against (Heath) Grundy and (Ted) Richards (who are) good experienced defenders," Cameron said.
"I thought our ball delivery helped him a bit more today, we hit the top of the square a bit more than we had in the first three weeks, but it's really pleasing for him to be able to bounce back.
"They're very hard to find ruck/forwards but also forward/rucks, and as the journey goes on for Rory he'll spend more time in the ruck and 'Mummy' (Shane Mumford) will spend more time forward.
"Hopefully the two of them can be a really lethal combination."

Cameron said star forward Jeremy Cameron will add even more potency to the side next week after serving a four-week suspension, with Devon Smith (knee) and Will Hoskin-Elliott (quad) also a chance to return to boost the Giants' forward options after missing the Power clash.
