GOLD Coast defender Steven May has been sent straight to the Tribunal for his high bump on Brisbane Lions ruckman Stefan Martin after the Match Review Panel deemed it had made 'severe' impact.

May is expected to appear in Melbourne on Tuesday night to face the Tribunal, with his hit graded careless conduct with severe impact to the head by the MRP.

All charges with a severe impact grading are referred on by the MRP, with May also taking a bad record to the Tribunal on Tuesday night, which will see an extra match factored into his eventual penalty.

Martin has since passed a concussion test and is making a strong recovery from the hit and is likely to play this week, helping May's case if he seeks to have the impact downgraded.

The Gold Coast defender has been charged by the MRP four times in his 75 games, including a three-match ban for a high bump on Tom Rockliff in the round five Q-Clash last season.

West Coast ruckman Scott Lycett has accepted a one-match ban for striking Richmond forward Ty Vickery.

Lycett's blatant punch to Vickery's face was graded intentional with low impact to the head, meaning he could accept a one-match ban with an early guilty plea. He wasted no time in taking the suspension, confirming it on Monday night. He will miss West Coast's clash with the Swans at the SCG.

Seven players were offered and accepted $1000 fines, with Port Adelaide star Robbie Gray, and key forward Charlie Dixon charged for striking Greater Western Sydney co-captains Callan Ward and Phil Davis respectively. Port's Hamish Hartlett was fined for rough conduct. Collingwood's Taylor Adams, Brisbane Lion Darcy Gardiner, Western Bulldog Joel Hamling and Carlton's Nick Graham were also fined.

Western Bulldogs midfielder Lin Jong was cleared by the MRP for an attempted tackle gone wrong against Carlton midfielder Patrick Cripps.

The MRP said there was insufficient high contact to constitute a report, throwing out the match-day report against Jong.
