COLLINGWOOD forward Travis Cloke has staked his claim for an immediate recall, playing with renewed vigour to kick two goals and lead Collingwood's VFL team to a 40-point win over the Casey Scorpions.
Cloke, who was dropped after one match back at senior level, was among the best three players on the ground, laying eight tackles and taking a big pack mark to kick his first of two goals on Saturday.
He set up more and played with confidence, displaying an intensity and hunger for the contest that has been missing from his game through a form slump this season.
He battled on in tough conditions for a key forward to make a convincing case for selection after the Magpies' round 13 bye.
A highlight of his game was a five-tackle first quarter, which would have left the Magpies' match committee in no doubt about his intent to return to senior level.
Midfielder James Aish, who was best on ground with 32 possessions and seven tackles, praised Cloke for his intensity at the contest.
"He's an imposing figure and the more he can do that the better he's going to be and it's good that he's bringing that effort to the reserves," Aish told broadcaster Channel Seven.
"He'll be up there again soon and it'll be good for the team."
Both the Magpies' AFL and VFL teams have a bye following Monday's Queen's Birthday clash.
