PATRICK Dangerfield will be the clear winner of the Brownlow Medal, according to AFL.com.au's predictor.

The Geelong superstar finished with 29 votes, ahead of Sydney Swan Luke Parker (25) and Adelaide's Rory Sloane (23).

The Crows' hard nut is ineligible to take out the award after a late hit on Port Adelaide's Brad Ebert in round 22 saw him suspended for a week.

Richmond's Dustin Martin and Eagle Luke Shuey are both expected to poll 22 votes.

Dangerfield has had a phenomenal season after being traded from the Crows. He experienced a purple patch midway through the season against North Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs, when he racked up a combined 85 disposals, 23 inside 50s and four goals.

CrownBet has Dangerfield at $1.25 to take 'Charlie' home. He came into favouritism after his brilliant round one display against Hawthorn and has not given it up since.

Punters could have found the former Crow at $9 in the pre-season, with injured pair Nat Fyfe ($5.50) and Gary Ablett ($6) the expected frontrunners.

The Cat was adjuged best on ground by AFL.com.au reporters in the final round against Melbourne to help assure his side would finish in the top four. It was a phenomenal performance that saw him record 16 inside 50s.

That equalled the AFL record shared by North Melbourne's Adam Simpson (against Collingwood in round six, 1999) and Adelaide's Mark Ricciuto (against West Coast in round 22, 1998).

He also broke 2001 Brownlow medallist Jason Akermanis' record for most inside 50s in a season, with 179. The Lion had 172 in 2004.

On Monday, CrownBet was offering $15 for Parker to take the award home, while Martin was at $10.

Shuey was at $51 to replicate his teammate Matt Priddis' feat of 2014 and win the Brownlow.

For those looking to back a cult hero, $101 was on offer for Melbourne ruckman Max Gawn. He started the season at $1001, but now looks set for All Australian selection after he was the only full-time ruckman nominated in the squad on Monday.
