THE LOPSIDED free-kick count in the West Coast-St Kilda clash has been given the tick of approval from the AFL.

The Saints were on the wrong end of the 23-8 differential, and it led to calls that Perth teams continually get the rub of green when playing at Domain Stadium.

St Kilda coach Alan Richardson refused to blame the disparity for his side's 19-point loss.

Umpires coach Hayden Kennedy told AFL.com.au's Whistleblowers program that a thorough review of the game revealed it was officiated in a satisfactory manner.

"Yes, we were (happy with the umpiring standard)," Kennedy said.

"Every Monday we go through the games (and) the free kick count to us is irrelevant.

"This game was no different to what we normally go through, and especially in regard to the amount of errors contained with in it.

"My ears pricked up over the weekend, as the umpires coach, because I know whenever there's a difference in the free kick count there's usually media-driven conversation based on it."

Other incidents discussed on the round two edition of Whistleblowers include:

  • A free kick against Swan Callum Mills for deliberately rushing a behind
  • Crow David Mackay penalised for pushing Hawk Paul Puopolo in the back
  • A ruck infringement against Magpie Brayden Maynard in a contest against Tiger Shaun Grigg
