GEELONG'S Darcy Lang is weighing his options after touring North Melbourne, with a potential trade for the uncontracted speedster likely to go down "to the wire".

The former first-round pick, No.16 overall in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft, is reportedly seeking greater midfield opportunities and is keen to stay in Victoria.

Carlton has also been linked to the 21-year-old from Colac, who has played 44 games and booted 31 goals for the Cats.

Geelong is yet to offer Lang a fresh contract but will put an offer on the table if he doesn't request a trade.

"Darcy's got a decision to make. Geelong are keen to retain (him) and he's also met with a couple (of clubs) and we'll work through this week," his manager Scott Lucas told SEN.

"What I will say is the (Thursday) deadline means that it will go all up to the wire.

"All the decisions and deals will be done on the Wednesday and Thursday.

"It's all getting organised for the frenzy, for want of a better word, later this week."

Lang made 10 appearances for Geelong this year, with his season interrupted by a cracked fibula against Fremantle in round 14.

He was outstanding in his return game in the semi-final victory over Sydney, racking up 24 touches and six tackles.

Meanwhile, Lucas said hard-running Hawthorn wingman Billy Hartung is deciding whether to seek a fresh start.

The Hawks haven't offered the out-of-contract 22-year-old a new deal and are keen to improve their draft position.

"There's some interest from other clubs, so we'll work through that this week," Lucas said.

As it stands, Hawthorn's first pick this year is not until selection No.43.
