SCANS have confirmed that No.1 draft pick Isabel Huntington will miss the rest of the season after rupturing her ACL.

The young Western Bulldogs forward was carried off on a stretcher during the second quarter of Sunday's AFL Women's match against Brisbane at Brendale.

Huntington was chasing a ball with Lion Nicole Hildebrand when her right knee gave way.

The 18-year-old has a history of knee problems, having ruptured her ACL late in 2016, before returning to be drafted by the Bulldogs last year.

The devastating blow came just minutes after Huntington had single-handedly injected some excitement into a dour contest, having taken back-to-back contested marks in the goalsquare to kick the game's first two goals.

Bulldogs coach Paul Groves said the club was right behind their young star.

"Everyone at the club is really hurting for Izzy," Groves said.

"We saw on Sunday just how talented a player she is, kicking two goals in as many minutes, and we were all shattered to see her go down injured.

"We will fully support Izzy during this difficult time and look forward to seeing her back out there as soon as possible."
