1. Shedda's platter
Richmond's goal assist king Shane Edwards put in a nomination for set-up of the year as he dominated the second term. He picked up 12 disposals, three inside 50s and kicked two goals, but it was his assist to Josh Caddy nearing half-time that came from the bottom of his trick bag. Appearing to have overrun the ball, Edwards then soccer-flicked the ball to a rampaging Caddy who converted from beyond 50 metres. It helped Caddy to one of four goals for the game and Richmond to its highest first-half score of the season. Edwards then re-produced his brilliance with a smart handball for Dan Butler in the third quarter, one of three goal assists for the game. His efforts saw him win the Yiooken Award for best on ground.

2. 'G, what a record
Richmond's love affair with the MCG continued with its 15th consecutive win as it close in on a 62-year record at the ground. The Tigers now sit two matches behind Melbourne's run of 17 straight wins at the home of football between round two, 1955, and round 13, 1956. If Tigers fans weren't excited enough at the 9-2 ledger, they'll be pleased to know the Demons' streak started in the same year they kick started a three-peat. To trump the Demons, Richmond will need to beat Geelong (R13), Adelaide (R16) and Collingwood (R19).

3. Sheedy's lap and Dimma's milestone
On a night when newly inducted AFL Legend and the mastermind behind Dreamtime at the 'G Kevin Sheedy was acknowledged by the MCG crowd, a former pupil enjoyed a milestone of his own. Damien Hardwick was never challenged in the coaches box as he notched 400 combined games as player and coach. One of 12 former Sheedy players to become senior AFL coaches, Hardwick took his career tally to 101-2-90. Adding in his playing record of 144-1-62, he now has an overall winning rate of 61.3 per cent.
What a brilliant start to #DreamtimeAtTheG.

4. Dons' nervous injury wait
Essendon will sweat on scans for midfielder David Zaharakis after he failed to return after quarter-time with a suspected broken collarbone. One of the most consistent Bombers this season, Zaharakis was on the receiving end of a big tackle from Tigers ruckman Toby Nankervis. Speedster Orazio Fantasia also came to the bench in the opening term with an ankle complaint before playing the match out. It was a busy start to the match for Bombers' officials, their kit truck arriving more than 30 minutes late to the ground after a mechanical fault. They then kicked just 1.3 in the first quarter, their lowest start to a game for the year.

5. Stringer notches a ton
A breakout game in the midfield from recruit Jake Stringer was one of few highlights for the Bombers on a dirty night. The former Bulldog collected 29 disposals and nine clearances – career-highs in both departments. He was granted his wish pre-game to run out with his two daughters for his 100th match before starting in the centre of the ground where he spent much of the evening. He had the chance to bring Essendon back within seven points in the second quarter with a set shot, but missed. In an 11-point swing, the Tigers moved the ball within the blink of an eye, capped off with a Shane Edwards goal.
