CARLTON has moved one step closer to winning the battle for Greater Western Sydney midfielder Will Setterfield, who officially requested a trade to Ikon Park on Monday.
As reported by AFL.com.au in August, Carlton and Essendon had been circling the highly rated Setterfield, who played just two AFL games before rupturing his ACL in February.

However, the Giants have confirmed that the 20-year-old has nominated the Blues as his club of choice, with the two teams set to negotiate a trade over the next nine days.
Setterfield, a talented 190cm midfielder, was claimed by GWS with pick No.5 in the 2016 NAB AFL Draft after Carlton forced the Giants to match a bid on their academy player.
He has since battled an injury-plagued start to his AFL career, sustaining a long-term ankle injury in his first season before suffering a knee injury during last year's pre-season.

The Giants also confirmed that ruckman Rory Lobb has requested a move to the Dockers.
