It means when they meet in round 12, the Eagles will be looking to knock the Swans down the ladder.
While both teams will be hoping to contend for the top-eight by round 12 next year, a Swans finish in the lower end of the top eight will give the Eagles a pick in the range of 28-30.
Brisbane v Collingwood, round five, the Gabba
The Lions will be desperate to bring down Dayne Beams in his first match against his old side, but just as desperate to hand the Magpies a loss.
In letting Beams walk, the Lions not only picked up a first-round pick this year (Ely Smith, pick 21), but grabbed the Pies' first pick next year.

If the Bombers miss the top eight again, the Giants will be staring at a top-10 selection after picking up the Bombers' first pick in the trade for Dylan Shiel.
It's a pick they fought for on the last day and ultimately landed.

While the Bombers got back the Giants' second-round pick, Leon Cameron will have extra incentive in these two encounters.
St Kilda v Sydney, round 23, SCG
The Saints' season could be well over by the final home-and-away match of 2019, but it won't matter to the Swans.
As Dan Hannebery walked to Moorabbin, the Swans were able to secure a second-round pick, which will be pick 21 if the Saints finish 16th again.
