JUST three days after his AFL debut, exciting Geelong youngster Jordan Clark is set to be rewarded with a long-term contract extension.

While the Cats push to retain West Australian star Tim Kelly beyond this season, it's another Perth product in Clark they're poised to come to terms with until the end of 2022.  

The fresh deal will see the 18-year-old, one of four Geelong debutants in the round one win over Collingwood, add two years to his two-year initial draft contract.

Landing at pick No.15 in last year's NAB AFL Draft, Clark had an immediate impact over summer before joining Tom Atkins, Charlie Constable and Gryan Miers in the season opener.

With small defenders Zach Tuohy and Jed Bews sidelined through injury, Clark was opposed to Pies forwards Josh Thomas, Jaidyn Stephenson and Jamie Elliott at the MCG.

This summer was Clark's first full football pre-season with previous campaigns dedicated to cricket, a sport in which he represented Australia at junior level.

Despite illness delaying his training loads prior to Christmas, Clark starred on the training track through January and February before playing in both JLT Community Series matches.  

Throughout his draft interviews, Clark made his intentions known that he was open to a football future in Victoria with the 'go home' factor providing little concern.  

Clark's pending signature comes after No.4 pick Max King recently extended his stay at St Kilda, with Carlton also in talks with No.1 pick Sam Walsh's management on an extension.
