Adelaide Crows

Get them in: Midfielder Myles Poholke responded to being dropped with an outstanding SANFL performance, with 30 disposals and four goals in the draw against South Adelaide. Rookie Patrick Wilson had 33 touches. Josh Jenkins had 11 disposals and kicked 0.2 in tough conditions for key forwards. Chayce Jones (concussion) should be available, while Jordan Gallucci, who was the AFL emergency and didn't play any level last weekend, will be close.

Under the pump: Kyle Hartigan had just eight disposals in the 73-point win against Gold Coast. Elliott Himmelberg presented a strong target up forward but could come under pressure from Jenkins.

Medical room: Dashing defender Wayne Milera, who played up forward and in the midfield against the Suns, will be sidelined for at least a month with an AC joint injury.

Verdict: Will be close between Poholke, Jones and Gallucci to replace Milera. Poholke gets the nod due to his stunning SANFL form. No other changes. - Lee Gaskin

Brisbane Lions

Get them in: Another big NEAFL win and lots of players bashing the door down. Ryan Bastinac, Tom Cutler and Lewy Taylor are all midfield options that would improve the team's run. Draftee Noah Answerth and Jacob Allison have done well as running defenders, while Ben Keays and Toby Wooller have impressed in the forward line.

Under the pump: Plenty of players would be nervous ahead of selection this week. Nick Robertson, Jarryd Lyons, Dan McStayStef Martin and Allen Christensen have all struggled for consistency in the past fortnight.

Medical room: Hamstring injuries to vice-captain Harris Andrews and Rhys Mathieson have them both likely to miss Saturday's match.

Verdict: It would be silly to make wholesale changes to a 3-2 team, but the Lions must find some more run and reward NEAFL form after two heavy losses. Answerth to debut and replace Robertson, Cutler to add run and cover for the injured Mathieson, Taylor in to add some bite for Christensen and another debutant in Wooller to cover Andrews. McStay would move to defence and Wooller as a lead-up third forward option. Lyons and Martin are on thin ice. – Michael Whiting

Carlton

Get them in: The Blues will wait on fitness tests for Charlie Curnow and David Cuningham before deciding on their availability. Matthew Kennedy returned from a quad injury with 22 disposals in the VFL, while young forward Patrick Kerr kicked three goals.

Under the pump: Young forward Cam Polson struggled to find the footy upon his return to the senior team, winning only four disposals and laying just two tackles.

Medical room: Gun youngster Curnow is battling with knee soreness, while Cuningham is still recovering from a bruised kidney. A host of players – including Alex Fasolo, Harrison Macreadie, Andrew Phillips and Tom Williamson – returned from injury through the VFL.

Verdict: Curnow to replace Polson, should he be deemed fit to play. Kennedy is also right on the cusp of a return to the senior team. - Riley Beveridge

Collingwood

Get them in: Veteran midfielder Daniel Wells will probably need at least another strong showing in the VFL to force his way in but stopper Levi Greenwood is ready whenever called upon.

Under the pump: Travis Varcoe was terrific in his round four return but was quiet in the win over Brisbane, and the experienced runner will be keen to reassert himself against Essendon on Anzac Day.

Medical room: Defender James Aish copped a bout of concussion and if he is ruled out, Flynn Appleby would be an unlikely replacement after suffering an ankle injury.

Verdict: If Aish isn't passed fit, Greenwood appears a readymade replacement. - Ben Collins

Essendon

Get them in: Jayden Laverde could be considered after booting six goals in the VFL. It was the half-forward's first game back from an ankle injury. David Zaharakis and Devon Smith are also expected to be available after missing last week with respective knee concerns.

Under the pump: Brayden Ham made his debut last week and went well, but could be first out with big names tipped to be back. Mark Baguley was quiet in last week's win over North Melbourne.

Medical room: Apart from Zaharakis and Smith, the Bombers have a healthy group. How Joe Daniher recovers from his first game back in a year will also be one to watch.

Verdict: It will be tight for spots ahead of Anzac Day this week for the Bombers but they will be close to full-strength if Zaharakis and Smith return. – Callum Twomey

FULL INJURY LIST Who's ruled out and who's a test?

Fremantle

Get them in: The Dockers have the luxury of weighing up whether to bring back Cam McCarthy after illness kept him out of the inspired road win over his old club Greater Western Sydney, and if Connor Blakely needs a week or two in the WAFL following his long-term hamstring.

Under the pump: Emerging defender Taylin Duman's two-match suspension offered by the Match Review Officer might spare others the axe if McCarthy is the only inclusion.

Medical room: Blakely hasn't played any football after damaging his hamstring tendon in January, so the Dockers have to weigh up whether he needs some WAFL match practice to get up to speed.

Verdict: McCarthy for Duman could be the only change. – Travis King

Geelong Cats

Get them in: Three quarters in the VFL on Saturday has Zach Tuohy's hand up for a recall. Quinton Narkle and James Parsons were both busy, while Zach Guthrie remains in the frame. If there was ever a week to play two rucks, a clash with West Coast would be it, but it appears a raffle among three. Ryan Abbott was best afield, with Darcy Fort dangerous and Zac Smith the carryover emergency. Charlie Constable will slot back in after being rested.

Under the pump: Esava Ratugolea copped a corkie late against the Hawks, and coinciding with a six-day break, could be a good time for a rest. Like Constable last week, the Cats are proactive with resting youngsters and 18-year-old Jordan Clark could be in for a spell.

Medical room: Brandan Parfitt's quad strain is expected to keep him out. Chris Scott almost rested Gary Ablett off a five-day break in round three, could this be the week?

Verdict: Constable for Parfitt and Tuohy for Clark. Potentially Narkle for Ablett and Abbott for Ratugolea. If the latter happens, Stanley to play more forward. - Mitch Cleary

FREE AGENTS LIST Who is in this year's pool?

Gold Coast Suns

Get them in: After missing Sunday's match with concussion, Wil Powell will hopefully be fine this week. Brad Scheer and Aaron Young were also excellent in the NEAFL, while Callum Ah Chee should also be considered.

Under the pump: Versatile Chris Burgess has really struggled for a couple of weeks now, finishing with just two disposals against the Crows.

Medical room: Powell will be a test after a heavy knock against Carlton in round four. Sean Lemmens is also a chance to come back through the NEAFL after suffering a serious ankle injury during the JLT Cup.

Verdict: Providing Powell passes his test, he should come in for Burgess. Gold Coast already have Peter Wright and Jack Lukosius as tall forwards and could do with Powell's extra run against the Lions. – Michael Whiting

GWS Giants

Get them in: Star forward Toby Greene is set to return from a calf injury against Sydney on Saturday night, after the Giants elected not to bring him back against Fremantle. He'll need to train solidly on Wednesday. Key defender Aidan Corr played his third game in a row after a long-term groin issue and could be ready to come in.

Under the pump: Matt Buntine has been playing as a defensive forward over the past month with some success, but if Greene is fit, he's likely to make way, with Daniel Lloyd and Brent Daniels more valuable as small/medium forwards this year with their speed and tackle pressure.

Medical room: Co-captain Phil Davis looks a long shot to be fit to take on Lance Franklin and the Swans after injuring his left ankle against the Dockers.

Verdict: Greene is an automatic selection if he gets through the week, so he returns for Buntine, while Corr plays his first game since round 17 last year in place of Davis. - Adam Curley

MID-SEASON DRAFT 50 players who could spark up your list

Hawthorn

Get them in: The Hawks will welcome back Ben Stratton and hamstring victims Liam Shiels and Shaun Burgoyne in the next fortnight, so other opportunities will be limited. However, Teia Miles offers versatility at half-back or as a small forward – and he bobbed up to kick a couple of goals on Saturday.

Under the pump: Conor Nash didn't win a possession in the first three quarters on Easter Monday, and finished with two touches and two tackles. A VFL stint is in order. David Mirra and Harry Morrison are others who will be nervous.

Medical room: Stratton (concussion) was a late out against Geelong but should recover in time to face Carlton on Sunday. Shiels is more likely than Burgoyne to be ready for the same game. Recruit Darren Minchington (hamstring) might resume in the VFL.

Verdict: Stratton and Shiels for Mirra and Nash. - Marc McGowan

Ben Stratton was missed in the Geelong loss, but should be back to lead out the side. Picture: AFL Photos

Melbourne

Get them in: With four days between its 40-point loss to St Kilda and the Anzac Eve clash against Richmond, you can expect a few changes. Jeff Garlett, Declan Keilty, Oscar McDonald and Tim Smith were all on reduced minutes in VFL affiliate Casey's exhibition game against Australia's Under-18 side and will come into the selection frame. Jay Lockhart and Billy Stretch are the others to be considered.

Under the pump: Charlie Spargo and Corey Wagner are likely outs, while Jordan Lewis, Josh Wagner and Sam Weideman are also likely to be on the hot seat after indifferent form.

Medical room: Neville Jetta was a late withdrawal from the game against the Swans and did not look anywhere near fit in the game against the Saints. He has since been ruled out for up to 10 weeksTom McDonald is another who looks laboured and could do with a spell. Jack Viney (hand) had scans on the weekend and will be a sore boy if he plays.

Verdict: Garlett for Spargo, Lockhart for C.Wagner, Stretch for Lewis, O.McDonald for Jetta and Tim Smith for Weideman. - Ben Guthrie

North Melbourne

Get them in: Luke McDonald is likely to return after serving a one-week suspension, while Tarryn Thomas should come straight back in after being rested last week. Dom Tyson could be in contention despite not playing in the VFL at the weekend. Nathan Hrovat, Tom Campbell and Nick Larkey are other options.

Under the pump: Few players will feel safe, but Paul Ahern and Sam Wright appear the most in danger.

Medical room: Defender Marley Williams (ankle) is one to watch this week. Could he push for selection? Tyson (calf tightness), Ben McKay (toe) and Tom Murphy (ankle) missed Saturday's VFL game, in which Tom Wilkinson sustained an ankle injury. Tristan Xerri (osteitis pubis) returned in the same match.

Verdict: McDonald and Thomas for Wright and Ahern, although Williams' fitness could be a factor here. - Marc McGowan

Port Adelaide

Get them in: Jack Trengove was outstanding with 37 disposals and two goals in Port's SANFL win against Norwood. Steven Motlop responded to his axing with 31 touches and 10 clearances, Karl Amon had 30 and two goals in his first game back from a knee injury and Jarrod Lienert was strong in defence. Joe Atley and Sam Mayes were also impressive.

Under the pump: Hard to see any unforced changes after last week's big win over West Coast, but Lienert's strong form will put pressure on Dougal Howard and Tom Clurey.

Medical room: Vice-captain Hamish Hartlett (hamstring) will need at least one game in the SANFL before being considered for AFL selection.

Verdict: The Power will go in unchanged. - Lee Gaskin

Richmond

Get them in: Coming off a four-day break, the Tigers may have several changes up their sleeve. Jack Riewoldt (wrist) is likely to return, while a VFL bye over the weekend will mean there will be a few fresh players in the wings. Jack GrahamConnor Menadue, Dan Butler and Jacob Townsend are all options if required.

Under the pump: Odd to say after 16 goals in his first four games, but Tom Lynch may be in line for a break after being held goalless against Sydney and an extremely limited pre-season. Kane Lambert was quiet by his standards with just 13 touches.

Medical room: No new injuries to report, although Daniel Rioli looked sore and sorry for himself immediately following the match, having suffered a corked thigh. Skipper Trent Cotchin is still a week away with a hamstring injury.

Verdict: Riewoldt for Rioli in a safety-first policy off a four-day break, while Graham may come in for Lambert to bring fresh legs into the side – Sarah Black

St Kilda

Get them in: After being dropped, Hunter Clark collected 28 disposals and a goal in the VFL, while defender Brandon White had 26 himself. Speedster Nick Hind finished with 20. Up forward, Robbie Young had nine disposals, five tackles and a goal.

Under the pump: After a well-rounded team performance against Melbourne, it's hard to see anyone being dropped.

Medical room: Surgery for a corkie will keep skipper Jarryn Geary out, while fellow hard-nosed defender Daniel McKenzie needs to overcome his concussion if he wants to return.

Verdict: If McKenzie is fit, he comes in for Geary. If not, Clark slots in down back. - Dinny Navaratnam

INJURY WRAP Giants sweat on captain's fitness, Lions pair in doubt

Sydney Swans

Get them in: Draftee Nick Blakey found some touch in the NEAFL last week after being dropped, finishing the day with 22 possessions and six marks, and also kicking 2.3 against Redland. Rookie-listed small forward Sam Wicks has been consistent and gathered 27 disposals and nine tackles, while Colin O'Riordan and Zac Foot were also good.

Under the pump: Athletic big man Sam Reid has kicked just four goals from five games and isn't having the influence the Swans need from him inside 50, while small forward Ben Ronke continued his form struggle against the Tigers and looks to be lacking confidence.

Medical room: Daniel Menzel (groin) could play his first game of the year this week on limited minutes in the NEAFL but must get through training before he's allowed back on the field.

Verdict: The Swans' foot skills have let them down and Blakey could be the man to help, so he comes in to play up the ground, in place of Ronke. - Adam Curley

A week in the NEAFL should have earned Nick Blakey a recall. Picture: AFL Photos

West Coast Eagles

Get them in: Adam Simpson has publicly stated he will back his players after the shocking effort against Port Adelaide on Good Friday, but Jarrod Brander (23 disposals, two goals in the WAFL), Brendon Ah Chee (23) and Matthew Allen (21) are pushing and livewire draftee Jarrod Cameron (one goal) could add some zip.

Under the pump: Premiership big man Nathan Vardy has been out of sorts in 2019 and is averaging just six disposals and is yet to kick a goal from five games. The Eagles could look to young forward Oscar Allen as a pinch-hitter to back-up Tom Hickey. Wingman Chris Masten could also be in trouble if the Eagles axe a midfielder.

Medical room: It looks unlikely Tom Barrass will be available for some time after pulling up with more foot soreness before the Power clash.

Verdict: Some more run wouldn't hurt if Vardy has a spell in the WAFL and there is a plethora of smaller types in form at state league level, but don't expect many changes. – Travis King

Western Bulldogs

Get thein: Footscray had a bye in the VFL so the emergencies in the Bulldogs' loss to Carlton –  Lin Jong, Patrick Lipinski, Roarke Smith and Jackson Trengove – couldn't further their selection bids. They will be in the calculations regardless, based on the form of those above them.

Under the pump: The entire team is feeling the heat after a poor result against the previously winless Blues. Josh Dunkley had a thankless task as an undersized second ruckman, while defender Bailey Williams spent time at the centre bounces but failed to impact the contest.

Medical room: Taylor Duryea and Matt Suckling were declared injured late in the week with hip and groin issues respectively and it remains to be seen if they could be considered for the trip to play Fremantle.

Verdict: It's time to play Trengove and Lipinski. Dunkley and Williams omitted and then a decision to be made on the experienced ex-Hawks Duryea and Suckling. Hard to see last week's debutant Lachie Young being picked ahead of either of them. - Paul Bastin
