HAWTHORN will consider resting wingman Isaac Smith for the next three weeks as it takes an ultra-cautious approach with his ongoing foot injury.
As Chad Wingard and James Frawley return from hamstring complaints for Saturday's clash with Port Adelaide, Smith will miss his third consecutive match.
Speaking ahead of the trip to Launceston, coach Alastair Clarkson flagged an extra period of recovery for Smith's midfoot sprain to coincide with the Hawks' round 12 bye.

"You just can't muck around with those foot injuries, they take a long while to settle sometimes and this one's taken particularly long," Clarkson said.
"I feel like he turned a corner mid-week this week and he wanted to play, and he was close (but) we just thought we were going to ramp him up too steeply.
"Hopefully he'll be right for next week but it'll all depend on when we start to ramp him up and put full pressure through that foot whether he's OK.
"We'd be hopeful he's available for the (round 11) Brisbane game, but I thought he was going to be available two weeks ago and he hasn't been so there can be no guarantee.
"We don't want to take a risk, if we be conservative then he'll play after the bye."

Clarkson said Wingard's eagerness to return this week was more focused on celebrating his indigenous roots in Sir Doug Nicholls Round than playing against his former side.

"I think the Sir Doug Nicholls Round is the more pertinent of the two," Clarkson said.
"He's had an interrupted pre-season and an interrupted first part of the year.
"We're hopeful those troubles are behind him now and he can get going in the second half of the year.
"It's an important step for him to get back in the side and hopefully start playing some good footy for us."
MID-SEASON ROOKIE DRAFT Former players, brothers of star on the list
Clarkson revealed Carlton legend Syd Jackson had addressed the Hawks this week to educate the entire club on his journey as a victim of the Stolen Generations.
The Hawks travelled with emergencies Marc Pittonet and Dylan Moore on Friday, however former captain Jarryd Roughead will be forced to prove himself in the VFL again.
Pittonet and Moore remain on standby for Mitch Lewis, who was concussed last week. While Clarkson said he was hopeful the key forward would be fit to play, he admitted a final decision would need to be made closer to the match.
After three straight matches at AFL level, Clarkson said Moore's lack of polish had cost him his spot in the side.

Meanwhile, Clarkson said the club would spend the weekend discussing the likelihood of using the club's one pick in next week's NAB AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft.
Hawthorn's availability comes after rookie Tim Mohr's season-ending double ACL and PCL reconstructions.
