COLLINGWOOD veteran Daniel Wells will meet his knee surgeon on Sunday in an attempt to learn whether he can play again in 2019.
Wells, 34, suffered damage to his left posterior cruciate ligament in the Pies' seven-point win over Sydney on Friday night.
Now into the final season of a three-year contract, Wells' career would be left hanging in the balance should he require surgery.

Wells booted three goals in the opening half of his first match of the season on Friday night before injuring his knee in the third term.
Should Wells avoid going under the knife, he could turn to Richmond spearhead Jack Riewoldt for inspiration.

Riewoldt suffered a high-grade PCL strain that didn't require surgery earlier this year and is hopeful of a return inside the next month.
Wells has played 15 of a possible 58 games since crossing to the Pies with a series of separate injury setbacks.
After calf and thigh injuries in 2017, Wells missed the Pies' run to the finals last year with a foot injury he was forced to manage this pre-season.
