THEY were known for their exploits in September, and now they'll be presenting awards to the next generation of finals heroes.
After winning the 2003 Norm Smith Medal, Brisbane legend Simon Black will hand over the 2019 edition to the player judged best on ground in the Grand Final.
The Norm Smith Medal is traditionally presented by a previous winner in chronological order.

Following that, it's actually Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley's turn after his 2002 win but, as he is a chance of coaching on the last Saturday of September, Black will do the honours.
Buckley will present the medal eventually when he is available.
Port Adelaide premiership coach Mark Williams will present the Jock McHale Medal to the winning coach. Williams received his medal from the great John Kennedy snr after the Power's win in 2004.

Geelong and GWS star Steve Johnson made September his own, particularly during the Cats' dominant era from 2007 to 2011, and the star forward has been named the 2019 Premiership Cup ambassador.
Johnson won the Norm Smith Medal in the Cats' 2007 premiership win.
