THE SILVAGNI name looks set to carry on at Carlton for a third generation, with the Blues nominating Jack Silvagni as a potential father-son recruit.
The 17-year-old is the son of Carlton’s full-back of the century and current list manager Stephen, and grandson of dual premiership player, Sergio.
The new father-son bidding system will decide Silvagni's future on draft night, with the versatile utility likely to attract a bid from a rival club in the second round.
The Blues would then have to match the bid to win his services.
"The Silvagni name is synonymous with the Blues and we’d be rapt to pick up Jack on draft night,” Carlton head of football Andrew McKay told the club's website.
"Jack certainly is a talent in his own right, and it would be a great story to be able to secure, for the first time in our history, a third generation father-son selection."
Silvagni revealed at last month's draft combine he had always dreamed of following in his father and grandfather's footsteps.
"I respect whatever happens, but ultimately I'd love to end up at Carlton," he said
"It's been a dream of mine since I can remember, it's always what I've wanted to do and hopefully it gets fulfilled."
Silvagni has had his injury battles throughout 2015, but showed his potential with a six-goal haul for Vic Metro against Western Australia at the NAB AFL Under-18 championships in June.
Carlton hasn't given up on securing another son of a gun, nominating Bailey Rice - son of premiership Blue Dean Rice - despite him choosing St Kilda as his preferred club.
“Although Bailey has already indicated he’d like to go to the Saints, by nominating him, this gives us the next opportunity if anything was to change.” McKay said
