The NAB AFL National Under 18 Championships offers the opportunity for talented State League umpires to officiate in an elite AFL competition.
In 2015, 18 umpires (6 field umpires, 6 boundary umpires, 6 goal umpires) from throughout Australia have been selected for a talent camp that incorporates the championships.
The talent camp is aimed to provide young talented umpires, on the pathway to AFL football, an experience of a high performance environment as well as the chance to develop life skills that will aid their personal development.
Umpires will volunteer at community groups, undertake nutrition talks and healthy shopping tours, as well as umpiring development through coaching opportunities.
Former AFL umpiring veteran Stuart Wenn will coach the field umpires, whilst current AFL umpires Shane Thiele and Adam Wojcik will coach the boundary and goal umpires respectively.
