DELISTED Crow Brodie Martin is training hard in a bid to revive his AFL career, with the discarded wingman open to being signed as a rookie.
The 26-year-old was delisted by Adelaide following 38 games in eight years, after spending much of this season in the SANFL.
While he's unlikely to be given a guarantee until after the NAB AFL Trade Period, AFL.com.au believes there are at least three clubs interested in his services.
The former rookie has kept himself fit since the end of the season with up to four running sessions a week.
His manager Michael Doughty said the South Australian was open to resuming his career away from Adelaide, and potentially as a rookie.
"It was reported he said he wouldn't be interested [in a rookie spot] but I think he was misquoted," Doughty told AFL.com.au.
"I think he'll definitely look at it.
"If it's on an AFL list, it's still a good opportunity and you only need a couple of injuries and you find yourself back on the main list.
"Sometimes you just need those lucky breaks."
Martin was rewarded for his career-best form in 2014 with a one-year contract extension, but couldn't break into the Crows' line-up until round nine this year.
From there, the wingman/half-forward managed just two more senior appearances – in rounds 16 and 17 – before finishing the season in the SANFL after missing two games with illness.
Martin is likely to head back to the SANFL if his AFL career isn't resuscitated having held talks with Sturt – where he played before he was drafted – last week.
"His AFL footy has been good the past two years, it's just been a lack of opportunity," Doughty said.
"I think he's pretty level-headed and knew he probably wasn't going to get the opportunity there [at the Crows].
"He's been there eight years so it was time for both parties to move on and hopefully he can get another crack at it somewhere else.
"A fresh start might be just what he needs."
