SCANS have confirmed St Kilda skipper Nick Riewoldt suffered a fresh calf injury during the warm-up before Friday night's clash against Collingwood.
The 32-year-old was a late withdrawal after final teams were submitted, after experiencing soreness.
The champion forward had battled a calf complaint in the lead-up to the Collingwood loss, but scans on Saturday revealed a new injury.
A low grade strain puts Riewoldt's availability for the Saints' Anzac Day clash against Carlton in New Zealand in serious doubt.
"He's no certainly to play next week," coach Alan Richardson conceded after the 74-point loss to the Pies.
"[The flight to New Zealand] is not ideal. He'd have to be reasonably right relatively early in the week.
"It's unlikely we'd chuck him on a plane if he's 50-50 at best. We're not doing the team any favours."
Riewoldt will be assessed by club medical staff over the next 48-72 hours, before a decision on his availability is made.
