THE AFL has announced the remaining dates and locations for the 2020 AFL Community Camps which see all 18 AFL clubs visit suburban and regional communities across the country.
In its eighteenth year, the AFL Community Camps provide an opportunity for football fans across the country to access the game, with more than 750 AFL players set to visit local schools, football clubs, nursing homes, hospitals and community centres.
West Coast kicked off the 2020 AFL Community Camps in December, while the remaining Community Camps will be held from February 2 – March 10.
Established in 2003, the AFL Community Camps have reached more than 1.5 million school students across 7500 schools and over 48,500 people in aged care facilities and hospitals.
In addition, more than 101,000 children have participated in AFL super clinics since the program's commencement, while funding has been raised through official functions to assist local junior community football programs.
AFL Game Development General Manager Andrew Dillon says the AFL Community Camps are an important vehicle in highlighting and strengthening the connection Australian Football has with the wider community.
"We're excited to welcome back another year of the AFL Community Camps which provide the perfect platform for communities and individuals across the country, no matter where they live, to enjoy everything the AFL and its Clubs have to offer," he said.
"The AFL Community Camps also provide a great opportunity for the players to meet their fans and give back to the communities who support them throughout the season."
In addition to the AFL Community Camps, AFL Clubs will continue to support communities impacted by the bushfires across Australia through a variety of activities and fundraising initiatives.
