PORT Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley has put the rest of the competition on notice, declaring the Power have set their sights on celebrating the club's 150th anniversary with a premiership.
The Power have missed the finals in four of the past five seasons and haven't won a match in September since 2014.
However, Hinkley is desperate to deliver the Port Adelaide faithful a second AFL flag and a 38th in total – including 36 in the state league - dating back to the club's formation in 1870.
"I love this club and I love the history of this club and this club's history is premierships," Hinkley told reporters on Wednesday.
"So, that's what we're starting out to try and do.
FULL FIXTURE Every round, every game
"We're going to start this year wanting to win the premiership in our 150th year.
"We're going to do everything we can to do that.
"To do that, you have to qualify for finals, so look out, we're coming."
The Power have invested heavily in the draft in the past two years, taking Connor Rozee, Zak Butters and Xavier Duursma in the first round in 2018 followed by forwards Miles Bergman and Mitch Georgiades last year.
Rozee, Butters and Duursma all debuted in round one last year, and Hinkley said he expected to have at least another round one debutant this season as his excitement grows.
"There's no doubt this footy team is really building," Hinkley said.
FOUR ALL STARS, FOUR VICS: Your club's State of Origin contenders
"We're building towards a premiership and we don't hide from that.
"We know we've got the list now that is really, really capable."
The Power will have 43 players available for Friday's intraclub game at Alberton Oval.
Vice-captain Ollie Wines, who is out for three months after having surgery to repair a dislocated shoulder, and father-son selection Jackson Mead, who has a minor hamstring injury, are the only two missing.
Mead is likely to be available for the Marsh Community Series.
Defender Jack Watts will take another step towards returning to football since a serious leg injury against Carlton in round two last year.
"Just to get out there and play is what we're looking forward to seeing," Hinkley said.
LIST RATINGS Roos' shock rise, Dogs tipped to shine
"He's still feeling his way a little bit, there's no doubt about that and we expect that to be the case.
"He's still nearly 12 months from the injury happening, so he's way ahead of schedule and we're really pleased and excited for him."
