ST KILDA has jumped out of the blocks in its Marsh Community Series clash with Hawthorn.

Jack Lonie kicked two early goals and exciting forward Max King also hit the scoreboard for the Saints. The Hawks responded, however, and dashing veteran Isaac Smith had two goals by the end of the first term.

The Saints and Hawks went into Thursday night's Marsh Community Series clash at RSEA Park with unchanged extended squads, with both sides to field up to eight on the interchange bench.

There are plenty of new faces on show across the two teams, with the likes of Paddy Ryder, Bradley Hill, Dougal Howard, Dan Butler and Ryan Abbott (St Kilda) and Jon Patton and Sam Frost (Hawthorn) to make their club debuts.

Eyes will also be on Hawthorn's Tom Mitchell, with the Brownlow medallist to play his first competitive game since badly breaking his leg last January.

MARSH EYE-CATCHERS Who to watch, who's missing

Former Saint and delisted Hawk Darren Minchington, who remains unsigned and is vying for the Hawks' final list spot, will also be aiming to make an impact.

It's set to be a strong showing from each side, with just Jarryn Geary (calf), Dylan Roberton (corked knee), Dan Hannebery (managed) and Zak Jones (wisdom teeth) to miss for the Saints and Shaun Burgoyne and James Sicily for the Hawks.

The Saints are expecting up to 10,000 spectators to pile into Moorabbin to watch the game, which starts at 7.10pm AEDT.
