WEST Coast’s Marsh Community Series clash against Essendon was paused due to dangerous conditions after lightning strikes in the area surrounding Mineral Resources Park.
After returning to the field to start the second quarter, match officials called both teams in and sent them to their respective changerooms.
Play resumed after a 20-minute delay, restarting on the wing where play had been halted by ground manager Tony Pasquale.

The opening term was played out to a backdrop of dark storm clouds and intermittent lightning strikes, which continued after the players were sent from the ground.
With strong winds also hitting the area, a severe weather warning was issued by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.
Essendon had built a 13-point lead when play was halted, hitting West Coast with a strong tackling assault and winning the contested ball.
