CARLTON has made a late change for Saturday's Marsh Community Series clash against Fremantle, giving train-on player Ryan Sturgess the chance to impress as he pushes for a rookie spot. 

The Blues withdrew Lachie Plowman for the clash against the Dockers at David Grays Arena because of soreness. Fremantle will go in as named.

Sturgess will join fellow rookie hopeful and former Richmond forward Callum Moore in the squad as important defender Sam Docherty makes his return to competitive football.

The Dockers will have six new faces in their opening pre-season game, with recruits Blake Acres and James Aish joined by draftees Caleb Serong and Michael Frederick. Second-year pair Sam Sturt and Tobe Watson will feature as they push for an AFL debut in round one.
