HARRY Taylor has put an end to speculation about his playing future, signing a new contract with Geelong on Friday.

Speculation had been rife in recent weeks that the 2010 All Australian was set to ignore interest from clubs in his home state of Western Australia and re-sign with the Cats, and he confirmed the news via Twitter.

"As of 1610 (4.10pm) it's official," Taylor tweeted on Friday night.

"To do list: sign contract.

"Amazing people, amazing culture, amazing club."

Taylor did not reveal the length of the new deal, however a report in The Age on Friday morning said it was a five-year contract, which would tie him to Geelong until the end of 2018.

The 27-year-old put a scare through the Cats' camp in May, when he said on radio he was considering a move back to Western Australia, where his wife is also from.

However, Geelong CEO Brian Cook said only two weeks later that a deal was as good as done, and would be signed off within days.

It has taken considerably longer than that, but the desired result has now been achieved.

Taylor has played 126 games for the Cats since his debut in 2008, including the 2009 and 2011 premierships.

In the midst of an outstanding 2013 season, he is a strong chance to win a second All Australian selection this year.
