TOP performers in round one headline the most traded in Fantasy Classic players since lockout lifted last week.

Three trades have been made available for coaches to help get their team into check for round two. Most attack the first lot of trades with an idea of fixing their team. That is, get in the players who they believe they have ‘missed’ and offload those who they don’t think were good initial picks.

Coaches will have plenty of time to mull over the trades before round two but thousands have made their choices.

Some are rage trades, some are well-thought out moves. Only time will tell if they’re the right calls or not.

“Points chasers” is often what coaches trading in the top scorers from the previous round are called. However, early in the season it’s not always a bad thing. While those brining him in aren’t get his 132 he scored versus the Eagles, Jack Viney scored well above his starting price, not only gaining the most value after the first weekend but goes into the next game with a breakeven of 18.

Generally, the players being traded in are on the cheaper side. Included are many of the mid-priced options that were on the radar throughout the pre-season such as Chad Wingard, Sam Naismith and Christian Petracca.

One week of data was enough to get coaches to jump on board.

NAB AFL Rising Star nominee Sam Sturt appears to be a must-have cash cow after his round one score of 61 that saw him increase $27,000 in value and has the equal lowest breakeven (-11).

Most traded out players

Rage trading can be good for Fantasy coaches as they vent their frustrations of poor scores. Usually these are often reversed the day after lockout lifting, but with an indefinite timeframe until the next lockout, many have probably stuck.

Andrew Brayshaw was one of the most popular mid-priced selections following his outstanding Marsh Community Series. He had ticked all of the boxes; a midfield role and the much-hyped third year breakout.

No one predicted the 65 per cent time on ground that saw him score just 44 points and drop in value. With a clear head, most would be keen to back him in to produce higher scores if he can increase that time on ground.

The same can be said for Brodie Smith who spent a quarter off the field injured.

Other players in the most traded out category may help with shuffling some dollars. Premium Bulldog midfielders Marcus Bontempelli and Josh Dunkley attracted a hefty starting price tag. Some coaches have looked to trade them out to gain some cash and upgrade players elsewhere.

The Traders’ potential round two trades

Calvin, coach of Calvinator
Grundy can go! Having 78 points on my bench from Naismith isn’t something that sits well with me, plus it frees up so much cash to fix up other areas. Viney and Howe come in off the back of their impressive first games and Tom Green and Isaac Cumming who combined for 63 points can be shown the door. After their efforts job security is now borderline and although I now don’t have the ruckpig, my team is more stable in these unstable times. $122,000 remaining in the bank.

Roy, coach of destROY
Although these trades might look like panic stations following an awful first week, they are tactical and thought out. I would love the keep Lachie Whitfield and Brodie Smith but they are my ticket to a vital cash grab by selecting two of the value plays in Bailey Smith and Jeremy Howe. This allows me to get a rookie off the ground by selecting a third value option in Jack Viney. $30,000 remaining in the bank.

Warnie, coach of Warne Dawgs
My hand is up as someone who has made rage trades and left them as they are. The Darcy Parish to Bailey Smith move is likely to stick, but selection will dictate what the other moves are. While starting with Jeremy Howe over Brodie Smith would have been much better for points and use of funds, it doesn’t quite get me the coin I need to do what I want. Getting these low-scoring rookies off field should be a priority but moving Isaac Cumming to Brett Bewley (via DPP) would see a better use of cash … if Bewley continues in that Fantasy friendly role on the wing. $26,000 remaining in the bank.
