The Dutch name is actually pronounced "Floss-tone", with an 'F' sound rather than a 'V'.
Vlastuin's father Chris was born in Dutch New Guinea, and his grandparents are from Holland.

Growing up, the 18-year-old's nickname was 'Tigger', after the Disney character in the Winnie the Pooh series.
But his Richmond teammates are in the process of inventing a new one that plays on his unusual surname.
"They say it's too close to Tigers," Vlastuin said, of the Tigger tag.
"I've got a couple of different ones, like 'Flossie' from 'Cotch' [Trent Cotchin], and Stevie Morris was trying to get up 'Fairy' the other week because of fairy floss but it didn't stick and he forgot about it."
Vlastuin is realistic commentators are likely to mispronounce his surname early in his career as he cuts his teeth at senior level.
But he doesn't care what they call him, "as long as they're calling my name out".
