CARLTON defender Kade Simpson expects to play on in 2017.
The 32-year-old recently met with list manager Stephen Silvagni, and confirmed on Tuesday he believes he'll have a new deal in place for next year.
"I sat down with Stephen Silvagni a couple weeks ago, we're on the same page," Simpson said.
"So the contract will just hopefully roll over into next year at the end of the season."
But Simpson joked he wouldn't be playing on into Brent Harvey territory.
Harvey, 38, will this week break the VFL/AFL all-time games record when he takes to the field for the 427th time.
"I don't think I could do that many more pre-seasons. The body might hold up but mentally I think I'd be done by then," Simpson said.
Simpson made his Carlton debut in 2003.
The Blues travel to Launceston to play Hawthorn on Saturday.
