Rioli's 17 disposals (at 100 per cent efficiency), four goals and three score-assists equated to 28.8 player ratings points, which was the highest score of the round and the third-best score of his career.
The star Hawk's effort, which came after former Essendon champion Matthew Lloyd slammed him in a newspaper article as an under-achiever, moved him from No. 11 to No. 9 on the ratings table.
St Kilda's Leigh Montagna has also risen up the list after tallying 37 disposals, two goals and eight clearances in the Saints' narrow loss to the Brisbane Lions in New Zealand.
Montagna's performance earned him 27.5 points, the second-best score of the round, which helped him jump into the top-20 for the first time in his career.
Tough midfielder Adam Treloar has become the first of Greater Western Sydney's youngsters to crack the top 100, joining teammates Callan Ward (No. 43 overall) and Heath Shaw (No. 62) in that elite bracket.
Treloar is the Giants' leading scorer this season, earning 92.6 player ratings points in his six games.
Gold Coast skipper Gary Ablett remains the No. 1 player in the competition.
Ablett is also the leading scorer in 2014. He has scored 136 points, while Collingwood's Scott Pendlebury (128.6), Geelong's Joel Selwood (110.3) and Essendon's Jobe Watson (106.7) have been the other star performers this year.
When it comes to first-year players, St Kilda's Luke Dunstan (64.2) still leads the way from Brisbane Lion James Aish (60.5), Collingwood's Tom Langdon (57) and North Melbourne's Luke McDonald (54.4).
