GOLD Coast defender Jarrod Harbrow hasn't started contract negotiations despite his current deal expiring at season's end.

The 29-year-old has notched over 200 games and says he wants to remain at the Suns under new coach Stuart Dew.

While the Cairns product knows in-demand forward Tom Lynch is a club priority, he knows it's time to make some calls ahead of the club's return to its Metricon Stadium home on Saturday.

"Yeah I am (off contract) but I don't know where it's at, I'll have to ask the recruiters I think," he said.

"There hasn't been much chat at all, it's probably something I should actually ask my manager pretty soon, haven't really thought about it too much at all."

Harbrow is in his 12th season but is confident he has a few more in him given his consistent form and health.

And with Gary Ablett's departure he has been a vital level head for Dew this year, providing the coach with vital defensive expertise.

The Suns have played their first nine games on the road but will finally return to face former captain Ablett's Geelong this weekend.

It is hoped Suns co-captain Lynch will return from injury, with the unassuming Harbrow aware the key forward's own contract discussions will take precedence.

He is happy to stay put though and continue as the face of the Jarrod Harbrow Leadership Academy for the Gold Coast's aspiring indigenous athletes.

"I don't see myself moving anywhere else, I'm comfortable with my footy and work off field as well," he said.

"It's keeping me pretty busy, but you never know what can happen."
