HAWTHORN coach Alastair Clarkson has emphatically rejected rumours he is set to become Adelaide's coach, calling ex-Crow Andrew Jarman "a clown".
Jarman made the extraordinary claim on Thursday that Clarkson could be announced as the Crows' next coach on "a five-year deal, $1.4 (million) a year" deal as soon as next week.
"The intel did say if they win [the Grand Final] it’s definitely done, if they lose then he could stay," Jarman told Triple M.
One bookmaker wound the Hawks' coach into $1.45 odds for the Crows' job after Jarman's claim.
Clarkson, who is contracted in 2016, was forced to dismiss speculation about his future for the second year in a row.
"It was exactly this time last year that 'precious' Mike Sheahan raised the West Coast Eagles move, and we responded in a pretty positive manner to 'precious' at that point in time, and we'll do the same to the clown Jarman over in Adelaide," Clarkson told Channel Nine on Thursday night.
"[The rumour is] not true. I'm not going anywhere."
The Crows also poured cold water on the idea.
"The Adelaide Football Club will not be providing a running commentary on its search for a new senior coach," they said in a statement.
"To suggest the club would contact a rival coach during Grand Final week is simply wrong."
