COLLINGWOOD'S AFL and AFLW sides will be travelling as one team in the lead-up to their respective matches in Western Australia on March 4.
The AFLW players will be playing in their round five match against Fremantle at Rushton Park in Mandurah, which is about an hour's drive south of Perth.
It'll be a double-header, with the men following the women and also taking on the Dockers in the JLT Community Series.
Collingwood AFLW football operations manager Meg Hutchins said the joint travel plan was one part of how the two teams have been working together over summer.
"We are a bit restricted as we train at different times, but any opportunities we've had we've taken full advantage of," Hutchins said.
"There's been a bit of crossover in terms of when players come in at their own time to use the gym, and we've also had a few social get-togethers and functions.
"The main one we're going to have will be the curtain-raiser. We'll be travelling and staying together for the whole trip, so that'll be a really good experience for not only the AFLW team, but for the staff as well.
"Our coaches have also been doing professional development with the AFL program.”
Hutchins also revealed the Magpies, despite the first game of the inaugural NAB AFL Women's competition still more than a fortnight away, already had one eye on 2018 and beyond.
"The excitement of the first year is well and truly there, but we need to make sure we keep looking forward," she said.
"We've got a list management sub-committee and we meet fortnightly to just go through our list, identifying how our players are going and to work out what we're going to do come the season end.
"If you're not organised, you're going to miss the boat. I guess it's just the cut-throat nature of the AFL."
Collingwood meets Carlton in the first game of the NAB AFL Women’s competition at Olympic Park Oval, opposite the MCG, on Friday, February 3.
