The Blues exchanged a future fourth-round draft pick in order to secure Newman, who leaves the Swans after 31 games across four years with the club.

Recruited to Sydney as a mature-aged player out of Frankston in the VFL, Newman made his debut last year in an impressive maiden AFL season where he averaged 20.3 disposals.
However, he found the going more difficult in 2018, limited to just 11 games for the year.
