STRENGTHS
Strong, tough and determined, Dumont is a midfielder who will get the ball and make good decisions with it. His best trait is that he keeps his feet: Dumont manages to bullock through play, cop the bump and keep going. His right-foot kick is penetrating, and his senior experience is valuable. He can play as an inside midfielder but is also growing as an outside player.
WEAKNESSES
The query on Dumont is his ability to spread from a contest. He isn't athletically explosive and doesn't have huge burst speed. He played most of his games in the SANFL on flanks, so didn't get huge midfield opportunities there. Unfortunately, because of the injury, he didn't play his best, most consistent footy for the under-18 side.
He's a little like Ollie Wines, who burst onto the AFL scene this year for Port Adelaide. Dumont battles hard around the stoppages, is a solid kick, and can also move forward and hit the scoreboard. Throughout his past couple of seasons Dumont has shown he can find the goals, be it through a snap out of a pack or converting a set shot.
DRAFT RANGE
Dumont could sneak into the end of the first round but is a chance to be available early in the second round.
BOTTOM LINE
There's a number of hard midfielders inside the top 30, and Dumont is one. He seems to be well placed to grow his game to add more spark.
