HE MAY be a Brownlow medallist, but Nat Fyfe's return from a twice-broken leg has been far from smooth sailing.
And the Fremantle supporters have labelled their out-of-contract captain as the team's biggest underperformer in the first half of the season.
Giving their mid-season verdict on the Dockers in an AFL.com.au survey, fans handed Fyfe the unwanted tag, closely followed by defender Garrick Ibbotson.
On the flip side, midfielder Lachie Neale was considered his team's best, while recruit Brad Hill has also been recognised for his stunning form this season.
Here are the full survey results, along with a selection of Fremantle fans' views on the rest of the season.
It'll be a good year for the Dockers if …
The young players step up. Wins are second to seeing strong signs from the next generation.
- Daniel Lamont, Subiaco WA
We keep getting games into the younger players, whilst also refining our forward line. Winning the next derby would be great as well!
- Liam Salter, Underdale SA
Harley Bennell can get back on the track.
- Corey Rocha, Perth WA
Fyfe gets back to his best and stays. Our key forwards develop.
- Michael Wilson, Melton Vic
Nat Fyfe gets over his injuries and returns to his dominant best.
- Jake Pizzuto, Canning Vale WA
The maximum number of youngsters are blooded, while giving Fyfe sufficient cause for optimism to re-sign.
- Ben Isbill, Toodyay WA
We clearly see development in the forward line and young kids. See a future after Sandi, stay competitive and in the finals hunt.
- John Ryan, Perth WA
We sneak into the top eight with the lowest percentage ever!
- James Cross, Perth WA
