JEREMY Cameron is working back to his All Australian form of last year, Greater Western Sydney coach Leon Cameron believes.

 

The 21-year-old played his 50th match on Sunday against Fremantle at Patersons Stadium. The Giants were beaten by 76 points but their reigning best and fairest had 17 disposals, took seven marks, and kicked 2.4.

 

Following criticism of the young forward this year, the GWS coach said he was really pleased with Cameron's work rate in the losing cause against Fremantle.

 

"I thought Jeremy Cameron was really good," Leon Cameron said.

 

"His leading patterns were fantastic. 

“We understand he's been under a little bit of pressure just to produce some of that form from last year. But from the start of the game to the end of the game, he absolutely worked his butt off."

 

The Giants coach was not pleased with his side's last quarter, when the visitors conceded 12 scoring shots to two to be blown away by 76 points.

 

"The last quarter was disappointing," Cameron said.

 

"Just shocking skill errors, contested ball, stoppages, every statistic you could name, we got blown away in the last quarter.

 

"Our lads are hurting now because they realise they just let 30 minutes slip of their football education.

 

"Our energy and effort just dropped away for 30 minutes and you can't do it against quality opposition. They pounce on you if you do."

 

The task doesn’t get any easier for the Giants, who have a six-day break before they face Geelong at home next Saturday night.

 

Cameron said his side couldn’t afford to throw the season away with six rounds to go.

 

"It's that time of the year when young sides in the competition have to keep on keeping on, and we are no different," Cameron said. 

 

"We want to be able to take it right up to Geelong next Saturday night."
