The Melbourne Football Club has suspended rookie listed player Daniel Hayes for an indefinite period.

General Manager Football Operations, Chris Fagan told melbournefc.com.au, “We have taken this action because of Daniels repeated failure to attend training through January and February. He did so without making contact with the relevant officials at the club. This is a breach of our Code of Conduct.”

MELBOURNEfc Player Development Manager, Ross Monaghan and Club Psychologist Anthony Klarica have worked diligently to assist Daniel in adapting to the demands of AFL football ever since he arrived at the club, but has failed to respond positively.

Fagan added, “We will continue to try and assist Daniel with his development and at some stage hope that he can make the true commitment necessary to play AFL football.”

The AFL and AFLPA have been notified of our decision.
