COLLINGWOOD has surprisingly left out ruckman Brodie Grundy for the Queen's Birthday blockbuster against Melbourne on Monday, the big man available but named as an emergency, but it has welcomed Dane Swan back into the senior team after being a late withdrawal last week.
The Magpies also recalled Luke Ball and Sam Dwyer to cover for Nick Maxwell, out with a calf injury, and Steele Sidebottom who is commencing a three week suspension.
The Pies third omission is Taylor Adams after just one game back in the senior side, and it appears that the effort the club put into securing the former Giant between seasons is not paying off as anticipated.
Meanwhile Melbourne have recalled big man Chris Dawes to front up against his old club with Jimmy Toumpas omitted. It was thought the Demons may move another big man aside, most likely Max Gawn, but they seem keen to stretch the Collingwood defence.
Richmond has lost patience with new recruit Shaun Hampson with the former Carlton ruckman dropped as the Tigers search for a much-needed win on Sunday against North Melbourne.
