PORT Adelaide midfielder Sam Powell-Pepper has apologised unreservedly for his drunken late-night incident and revealed the toll the media scrutiny has taken on him.
The AFL's Integrity Unit found Powell-Pepper engaged in inappropriate behaviour that is unbecoming for an AFL player by being intoxicated in a public place, and by making inappropriate contact with a female, in the early hours of Sunday, April 8 at an Adelaide nightclub.
"I've let my team and my club down, so I can't be sorry enough," Powell-Pepper told Channel Nine.
"I've made her feel uncomfortable and I'm very sorry for that.
"When those first claims (of sexual assault) were brought up, it really hit me hard because I'm not that type of person.
"I've learnt quite a few lessons in a short amount of time."
The Power have threatened they make take legal action against Channel Seven Adelaide for its reporting of the incident.
The AFL has banned Powell-Pepper for one more game before he is available for selection for the Power's round seven clash with West Coast at Optus Stadium.
The Power's leadership group suspended Powell-Pepper for their round four loss to Essendon for breaking a team curfew.
"I don't recall parts of the night, I was pretty intoxicated," Powell-Pepper said.
"There was no sexual assault.
"The AFL and Port Adelaide did their investigation.
"It took them a couple of weeks, but they didn't find any of that."
Powell-Pepper stood himself down for last weekend's loss to Geelong while the investigation was unresolved.
He returned to football in the SANFL on Anzac Day, playing in Port Adelaide's game against Sturt at Unley Oval.
Powell-Pepper burst on to the scene last year, playing 22 of 23 games in his debut season and finishing third in the voting for the Rising Star award.
