DEFENDER Tom Langdon enjoyed his strongest hit-out in months as Collingwood confirmed another soft tissue setback for Ben Reid and a small hiccup for Mason Cox on Friday.

Langdon, who was weighing up retirement in March, ran at full speed in an hour-long session away from the main group at Olympic Park Oval.

In a promising sign, the 25-year-old who is contracted until the end of 2021, then completed light skills as his teammates were put through four 20-minute quarters of match simulation.

Reid wasn't among them with the veteran being eased back into individual running due to hamstring soreness before injuring his calf.

The latest blow after two injury-riddled seasons will keep the veteran out of the selection mix for at least the first fortnight of the resumption.

Cox wasn't sighted on Friday with the club later confirming to AFL.com.au he had sustained bone bruising to his knee at training on Wednesday.

The 211cm big man is expected to return to running on Monday and re-join full training in the middle of next week ahead of the season restart against Richmond on June 11.

Veteran Travis Varcoe completed match simulation for the first time since pre-season shoulder surgery and played across half-back. He was joined by Lynden Dunn – returning from an ACL – who enjoyed more than half of the entire two-and-a-half-hour session.

Chris Mayne only featured in half of match practice and received work on his lower back/hip before departing, while Jaidyn Stephenson played on a wing as he presses for a recall after he was overlooked in round one.

Forward Brody Mihocek trained fully after foot soreness reduced him to individual running on Monday.

Adam Treloar and Levi Greenwood – both nursing calf strains – walked laps of The Tan track on the opposite side of the nearby Yarra River.
