Was very quiet as Nick Smith got the better of him. Just couldn't get himself into the game and finished with just seven touches and one behind.
Michael Barlow – 6
Very consistent, even performance gathering 28 possessions through the midfield, but didn't have as big an impact as he may have liked. Was still one of the Dockers better performers.
Zac Clarke – 4
The wet weather didn't suit the ruck/forwards on the day and, like Kurt Tippett and Sam Reid, Clarke had little impact on the day with just 10 touches.
Ryan Crowley – 5
Ran predominantly with Dan Hannebery but it wasn't a standard tight tag. He rolled off Hannebery onto several of the Swans midfielders at different stages, but in the end he wasn't able to quell the influence of Hannebery who has beaten him before.

Hayden Crozier – 3
Came in as the predicted late replacement for Jon Griffin and started as the substitute. Didn't get on until late in the third term but the game had already slipped away.
Zac Dawson – 6
Manned Kurt Tippett deep in defence and gave support to Alex Silvagni as he matched up on Lance Franklin. He gave away a reckless free kick to Franklin in the first term but the star forward missed the set shot. Fought hard throughout.
Paul Duffield – 7
Had 14 touches rebounding from defence in the first half and did not make a mistake, operating at 100 per cent disposal efficiency. Had a quieter second half finishing with 22 touches. He missed one target for the day when he pulled a set shot on goal left in the last quarter.
Nat Fyfe – 8
Huge opening half. Had 14 touches, nine contested and took Luke Parker deep inside 50 and beat him one on one to mark and goal. Finished with 29 touches, 16 contested, but Parker probably shaded him in a high quality head to head battle.

Stephen Hill – 5
Looked lively early but was unable to break clear on the wing on the narrow ground and his 16 touches failed to deliver the impact you would normally expect from Hill.
Garrick Ibbotson – 7
Had a sensational opening half playing as the pseudo spare defender. He dropped into the hole and took a number of key intercept marks and made some good decisions rebounding from defence. Finished with 22 disposals and five marks in a very good performance.
Chris Mayne – 5
Didn't have a lot of football but had a significant impact. He took three key contested marks in the first half, one of which set up a running goal for Matthew Pavlich. Was very quiet in the second half.
David Mundy – 6
Gathered 25 disposals and kicked a brilliant goal in the last quarter following a sublime tap from Aaron Sandilands at a boundary throw in 30m from goal. Had eight clearances and four inside-50s.
Tendai Mzungu – 7
Put together a very impressive four quarters and was among the Dockers best. Gathered 21 disposals working deep into defence, but also pushed forward to kick two important goals.
Lachie Neale – 7
Won possessions at will. Finished with 31 disposals. Ran particularly hard defensively to give his defenders outlet options as the Dockers looked to rebound from defence and set-up attacking forays.
Matthew Pavlich – 7
Kicked three goals in the opening half and a fourth in the last quarter, all from half opportunities. In between times he was relatively well held by Ted Richards as the slippery conditions and some wasteful delivery did not help his cause.
Danyle Pearce – 3
The number one inside 50 player in the AFL this season scarcely had an impact on the wing. Lewis Jetta out-ran him into attack to take a mark and kick a goal in the third term. He was subbed shortly after with just eight touches to his name.
Aaron Sandilands – 7
Put together another mighty effort in the ruck. Had 42 hit-outs and some of hit-outs to advantage were superb and the Dockers won the clearances overall. Took some good marks in the wet and kicked a goal as well.
Alex Silvagni – 6
Did a terrific job playing on Lance Franklin but the superstar still managed six shots on goal. Won some crucial one on one battles and made some good tackles but was outgunned.
Lee Spurr – 5
Won a fair amount of football in defence, gathering 24 disposals, but he spent most of the afternoon on Ben McGlynn whose three goals were critical in the context of the match.
Cameron Sutcliffe – 5
Kicked a goal at the beginning of the last quarter that kick-started a mini comeback for the Dockers, but otherwise had a fairly quiet day running out of defence.
Matt Taberner – 3
His performances over the last three weeks earned plaudits around the country but he crashed back to earth in his first final. He managed just five touches, took one mark, but also dropped an uncontested mark in the goal square at a critical stage in the third term. Tough day for the youngster.
Michael Walters – 5
Was beaten on the day but he still manages to find a way to keep his hand in the game with three goal assists. But he only managed 12 touches and a goal himself. The Dockers need his spark in big games and it just wasn't there for long enough.
