The moment: The Hawthorn faithful erupt when Cyril Rioli comes on as the substitute midway through the third quarter and kicks a goal within seconds to keep the Hawks in the contest.
The talking point: In the dying minutes of the game, Adam Goodes pounces on the crumbs of a Lance Franklin-Matt Spangher marking contest, swivels past Josh Gibson and snaps truly on his left to seal the flag for the Swans. Is this the perfect way for the two-time Brownlow medallist to bow out of football?
Grand Final sprint: Billy Hartung (Hawthorn)
Ben Collins
Winner: Sydney Swans, 35 points
Norm Smith Medal: Luke Parker
First kick: Josh Kennedy
First goal: Ben McGlynn
Last goal: Kurt Tippett
The moment: Hawthorn is challenging midway through the final term when Franklin makes a long lead outside the arc to a vacant flank. The ball is propped up too high and Franklin's opponent Josh Gibson spoils. Franklin pounces on the loose ball, baulks Gibson, takes a bounce and goals from 50. The Hawks' resistance is broken, and the Franklin legend is sealed.
The talking point: Just how good will the Swans be? They won comfortably despite inaccuracy and the fact many of their guns didn't perform to their usual standard. Swans coach John Longmire concedes that although he is ecstatic with the result, he wasn't impressed with the overall performance. In a rare public display of overt confidence, Longmire says his team has just scratched the surface on its potential and expects significant improvement next year.
Grand Final sprint: Jason Tutt (Western Bulldogs)
James Dampney
Winner: Sydney Swans, 23 points
Norm Smith Medal: Jarrad McVeigh
First kick: Luke Parker
First goal: Jack Gunston
Last goal: Lance Franklin
The moment: Jarryd Roughead kicks a goal late in the final term to get the Hawks back within three goals and it's game on. But in the next ball-up, Josh Kennedy wins the clearance and feeds Luke Parker, who finds Buddy on the wing. With two bounces, Franklin lands the Sherrin squarely on his famous left boot and kicks the match-sealing goal.
The talking point: How will this Swans team ultimately be remembered? Premierships are so hard to win, but their star-studded line-up hit some incredible form after some initial stumbles and proved the dominant side of 2014. Now, can they get even better next year?
The moment:Just before three-quarter time Matt Suckling spears a pass to Cyril Rioli on the wing. Rioli darts past two Swans, and bursts into a sprint down the wing. He takes two bounces, leaving Lewis Jetta floundering behind him. The star Hawk runs to 40m out slots the goal, sending the brown and gold army into a frenzy. Siren sounds, Hawks lead by 15 points.
The talking point: An emotional Lance Franklin rues his missed opportunities. Buddy crumbles under the pressure and kicks 1.6, as his former club Hawthorn claims back-back-back flags for the second time in its history.
Grand Final sprint: Jason Tutt (Western Bulldogs)

Ben Guthrie
Winner: Sydney Swans, 32 points
Norm Smith Medal: Ben McGlynn
First kick: Luke Parker
First goal: Luke Breust
Last goal: Lance Franklin
The moment: Buddy Franklin tears along the Members' wing, looking to repeat his famous Goal of the Year from 2010. Instead, as a sign of his Bloods selflessness, he pinpoints Kurt Tippett on the lead who goes back and kicks the game-breaking goal late in the third quarter.
The talking point: Hawthorn fans forced to sing Somebody That I Used To Know at the final siren, after former Hawks Lance Franklin, Josh Kennedy and Ben McGlynn combine to put the club to the sword.
Grand Final sprint: Jordan Murdoch (Geelong)
Travis King
Winner: Hawthorn, five points
Norm Smith Medal: Will Langford
First kick: Josh Kennedy
First goal: Luke Parker
Last goal: Jarryd Roughead
The moment: With his side trailing by a point deep into the last quarter, Hawthorn cult hero Matt Spangher flies across a pack and spoils Lance Franklin's marking attempt. The Hawks sweep the ball the length of the field and Roughead kicks the match-winning goal.
The talking point: In a reversal from the 2012 Grand Final, Lance Franklin dominates the match but his wayward kicking costs the Swans the flag.
The moment: The two skippers, Luke Hodge and Kieren Jack, clash body on body for a contested ball in the centre square late in the match. Hodge keeps his feet, wins possession and sets up a match-winning goal.
The talking point: Lance Franklin's inaccuracy costs the Swans. Franklin misses multiple opportunities in the opening half when the Swans have momentum and they fail to put scoreboard pressure on the Hawks.
Grand Final sprint: Will Schofield (West Coast)
Adam McNicol
Winner: Sydney Swans, 20 points
Norm Smith Medal: Luke Parker
First kick: Kieren Jack
First goal: Ben McGlynn
Last goal: Lance Franklin
The moment:Luke Hodge takes inspiration from Richmond skipper Trent Cotchin and kicks into a howling breeze after winning the toss
The talking point: How did the Hawks allow Buddy to have 14 shots at goal?
Grand Final sprint: Jarred Ellis (Gold Coast)
Luke Parker already has a Grand Final medallion in the bag from 2012. Picture: AFL Media
Jennifer Phelan Winner: Sydney Swans, 24 points
Norm Smith Medal: Luke Parker
First kick: Josh Kennedy
First goal: Kurt Tippett
Last goal: Paul Puopolo
The moment: With the Hawks up by six points at three-quarter time, the Swans win the first centre clearance of the final quarter and Ben McGlynn ends up kicking a goal within the first 30 seconds that provides the spark the Swans need to push on to a four-goal victory
The talking point: Much was made about the decision to play Cyril Rioli and Ben McEvoy over Jonathan Simpkin and Jonathon Ceglar, but after they were smashed in the contested ball, the question remains; should Brad Sewell have been called up? Grand Final sprint: Brodie Smith (Adelaide)
The moment: In time-on in the final quarter, with Hawthorn two points up and a bounce in centre, Mike Pyke taps it to Josh Kennedy who handballs to Ben McGlynn who hits Buddy on the chest with Matt Spangher desperately trying to spoil. Buddy goes back to kick his sixth goal - one that turns out to only be a consolation for the Swans.
The talking point: How Lance Franklin and Kurt Tippett kicked 10 goals between them yet Hawthorn still won.
Grand Final sprint: Jordan Murdoch (Geelong)
Nathan Schmook
Winner: Sydney Swans, 11 points
Norm Smith Medal: Josh Kennedy First kick: Sam Mitchell
First goal: Jarryd Roughead
Last goal: Lance Franklin
The moment: Gary Rohan has his Lewis Jetta moment. Rohan was at his dashing best against North Melbourne and he will surely break free for an exhilarating run at some point. It will be all the more special given his hard road to the Grand Final.
The talking point: It has to be Buddy. The champ has been the player of the finals, and he is the most pivotal player in this Grand Final. Win or lose, the former Hawk's performance will be intensely dissected. I suspect there will be more than a few highlights to savour.
Grand Final sprint: Jordan Murdoch (Geelong)
There have been few Grand Final players subject to more scrutiny than Lance Franklin. Picture: AFL Media
Matt Thompson
Winner: Sydney Swans, 17 points
Norm Smith Medal: Dan Hannebery
First kick: Luke Parker
First goal: Kurt Tippett
Last goal: Lance Franklin
The moment: Who knows how many goals Lance Franklin will kick, but when he kicks his first, the MCG will erupt.
The talking point: How the Cyril Rioli story plays out. Will he play a starring role? Will he start as sub? Will he reinjure his hamstring? Will he win back-to-back premiership medals? Which ever way it goes Rioli will be one of the biggest stories of this game.
The moment: After missing two premierships (2008, 2012), Sydney Swan Ben McGlynn is the spark in the third term, booting three goals to give his side the edge. The third, just before the final break, is a classy snap from the pocket that brings the house down.
The talking point: Lance Franklin will be the most talked about man in Australia on Sunday when he becomes just the third player in AFL/VFL history to win back-to-back premierships with different teams and the first since 1925.
Grand Final sprint: Jordan Murdoch (Geelong)
Callum Twomey
Winner: Sydney Swans, 14 points
Norm Smith Medal: Dan Hannebery First kick: Josh Kennedy
First goal: Luke Breust
Last goal: David Hale
The moment: With scores even midway through the third quarter, Lance Franklin takes a big mark, kicks the big goal and the Swans aren't headed thereafter.
The talking point: Franklin, Kurt Tippett and the Swans' star tall forwards are kept relatively quiet but it's their group of small goalkickers who make the big difference.
Grand Final sprint: Jordan Murdoch (Geelong)
Michael Whiting Winner: Hawthorn, 12 points
Norm Smith Medal: Jarryd Roughead
First kick: Josh Kennedy
First goal: Ben McGlynn
Last goal: Paul Puopolo
The moment: Buddy misses a set shot in the fourth quarter that would have put the Swans in front. The Hawks steady and go on to win.
The talking point: The inspired selection of Ben McEvoy. In a tense final quarter, Alastair Clarkson will be vindicated in picking the 'Big Boy' as he drops back into the defensive 50 and helps shut off supply to Franklin, Tippett and co.
